The owners of Workgreat have worked in the timber industry for over 45 years and we firmly believe in the perpetuation of the forestry industry. To this end we only purchase our timber from reputable companies who can prove that the timber we buy is from sustainable ‘managed forests’. The United Kingdom have the largest man made softwood forests in Europe, when a softwood tree reaches maturity about 40 years it gives out only half of the oxygen that it does when it is growing, to this end the felling of full grown trees and replanting is absolutely vital to our very well being. Similarly we firmly believe that the wholesale slaughter of the worlds hardwood forests is perhaps one of the worst acts of violence mankind is inflicting on this fragile small planet, moreover to burn an area the size of the U.K. every year simply has to be wrong. Timber is a natural product, when you buy a timber product please look after it, treat it and protect it from the elements.  
SHED BASES 

We require a solid base of flags, tarmac, concrete or even gravel. If you want your building to be assembled on grass or soil you must provide us with some bricks or even broken flags so that your bearers do not sit directly on a soft surface.  If you ask us to site your building directly on grass or soil without bricks or some flag we will not guarantee your building . We can lay you a gravel base if you require one -

WE ALSO SUPPLY TREATED BEARERS IF WE ASSEMBLE YOUR BUILDING  TO GIVE EXTRA LIFE ON YOUR BUILDING.

DELIVERY AND BAD ACCESS
We ask you the customer to look at your garden and inform us if you have any problems like steps, fences or walls that your building has to go up or over. Our assembly prices assume that  you have a normal garden NOT MOUNT EVEREST, if our fitters require extra help then we have two alternatives. 1/ The customer helps. 2/ Our fitters require extra help and your assembly price will double. We also ask that a responsible adult be present to show us where you want your building sited, should we have to make a second visit due to a customer not being present we will charge for a ‘re visit’

PAYMENT
Payment is due in full less your deposit seven days before delivery so that we can process your FUNDS.

SORRY WE NO LONGER ACCEPT PERSONAL CHEQUES.

MAINTENANCE   
    Your building comes pre treated however we recommend the use of a quality hand painted treatment like Sikkens, Sodolin extra or Johnsons varnish at your earliest convenience.

WE CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT TREATING YOUR BUILDING WITH QUALITY TREATMENT IS SIMPLY ESSENTIAL!

FAILURE TO TREAT YOUR BUILDING WILL MEAN IT WILL DISCOLOUR AND EVENTUALLY ROT

OUR DRY GUARANTEE IS NULL AND VOID IF YOU FAIL TO TREAT YOUR BUILDING YEARLY

WITH SIKKENS, SADOLIN EXTRA OR JOHNSONS VARNISH!

A Garden building will go black inside and out if you do not treat your building, this is the customers job, timber is expensive..... look after it and it will last for years and years.

TANALISED TIMBER.
 Tanalised timber is guaranteed by the manufacturer against rot. Workgreat make no claim as to the validity of tanalised timber, we have no long term test for this product and rely only on the manufacturers information and testing. Workgreat will not be responsible if the tanalising does not ‘live up to expectations’ as we believe timber should be treated every couple of years regardless.  
TIMBER SIZES
All sizes are shown for ease in imperial however timber sizes have been metric for a couple of decades now so when we say your building is a 6’ x 4’ it will actually be about 70” x 46”  ( metric size  )   also the actual timber we use is purchased in metric sizes i.e 25mm x 125mm tongue and groove timber actually arrives at our door at about 22mm x 118mm. As timber sizes can be confusing please ask for samples and we will be only to pleased to supply with a sample of all our timber sizes.

  PLANNING PERMISSION
As a rule normal garden sheds do not require planning permission however larger building that approach or exceed garage size probably do require permission, garages require permission so if you want a big building please seek advice from your local authority.  We can only give you general advise. 

MUST CHECK WITH THE LOCAL COUNCIL .

OUR ADVISE IS SIMPLE, NEVER EVER SPEND MONEY ON A LARGE BUILDING WITHOUT FIRST MAKING SURE YOUR LOCAL AUTHORITY WON'T ASK YOU TO TAKE IT DOWN!

GUARANTEE

Workgreat guarantee Our Sheds, Workshops and Summerhouses  to be dry inside from rain provided we assemble it..

and you the customer treat it each year as above.

Single skin buildings form condensation in winter without any form of heat. The roof of a single skin building can go black if it is not insulated due to condensation.

 Please do not put cushions in your building as the cold night air will make them damp or moldy. 

  We manufacture to the highest standards but please remember that timber is a natural product it will shrink and expand this is not a fault it is the natural movement of timber, timber is seldom straight and sometimes has a mind of its own, please remember a few weeks ago IT WAS A TREE !!

We also do not guarantee that the odd knot will not fall out. TO THIS END WE BUY BETTER SLOW GROWN TIMBER WITHOUT A MILLION KNOT HOLES

Kiln dried timber takes a couple of years to settle down to our climate so our advise is simple - water your shed in very hot weather and treat your shed each Autumn.  Do not grow plants or put animals in a shed without vents as the oxygen given off will make the inside of your building go black. Single skin buildings can form condensation when it is cold.   
Roofing felt is prone to ripple, if we pull it too tight then in winter it cracks on the corners so we stick to a happy medium, please do not be alarmed if your felt ripples it will not leak in it is simply expanding and contracting.
YOUR GUARANTEE IS NULL AND VIOD IF YOU PUNCTURE ( SCREW OR NAIL ) THROUGH THE TONGUE AND GROOVE  even drawing pins in the exterior wall will do immense damage long term as they open up the grain to let water in !!!

ALWAYS FASTEN TO THE FRAME !!!!!

NEVER EVER PUT ANY NAILS OR PINS IN THE CEILING !!!!

ELECTRICIANS CAN DO MORE DAMAGE TO YOUR BUILDING THAN ANYONE ALWAYS USE A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN
